Help us democratize access to tax advice for gig & creator economy workers
With the rise of gig work platforms and side hustle culture, over half of Gen Z workers are now getting paid with 1099 contracts. They might not think of themselves as business owners, but they are expected to file business taxes. This can feel incredibly daunting and frustrating, and you will help them navigate these complexities.
Today, most gig workers in the US don’t have access to clear tax guidance. Unable to afford an accountant, these 40-50M Americans struggle to find clear answers to simple questions such as: “Is my phone bill tax deductible?”, “Can I write-off my rent?”, and “How do I go about filing quarterly taxes?”. This gap in knowledge is costing them hundreds to thousands of dollars per year.
Tax-related content on the internet today is awful - full of jargon and overly conservative. Here’s an example. In contrast, you’ll manage and grow an “eden” of gig worker tax content that’s easy to understand, jargon-free, and designed for Gen Z. Quality over quantity.
You'll have a clear metric for success
Your core metric will be to increase content-driven app installs. Today, we’re getting about 500 / wk, mostly from our web content such as this, this, and this. Success would be growing that at 3-5x in the first 18 months.
Many channels & strategies to choose from
While most of our current content-driven app installs are coming from the written content and free calculators on our website, you’re welcome to build up other channels and strategies as well. For example, we can start to develop video-based content strategy (e.g. Youtube), or a social media strategy (e.g. TikTok channel).
Lot of resources at your disposal
We’re well-funded, and we mean business. You’ll have access to ~$15k / month slush fund, in-house illustrator, video editor, CPA , and a dedicated engineering & design team if needed.
Characteristics & skills that’ll help you get there
- You’ve done it before. Scaling a content-based marketing strategy is hard work.
- Excellent communication skills. The most valuable characteristic of our content is clarity and punchiness. Your audience is young, and easily distracted. That’s why you have to be a master at breaking down complex subjects and making them interesting. Even when you hire content producers, you’ll have to ghostwrite / outline the subjects.
- You’ve worked with software engineers. Improving our conversion from content viewers to app installers will likely mean working with engineers & designers to make updates to our free resources.
- SEO skills. Since seo-based traffic is the primary channel we’ve benefited from up to this point, having a strong technical SEO background will be highly valuable as you scale the.
