Check out my interview with founder and CEO Ali Schwanke here:
I've worked at two content agencies and cannot recommend the experience more highly. Agency work is different—you get to work on multiple accounts, which is an incredible way to learn about content strategy and creation really fast. You're also surrounded by a team of other marketers, writers and editors. Most SaaS companies can't offer that. If you're looking to speed up your career development, consider applying for this role.
Here are three things I love about this role:
- Spend 75% of your time researching, writing and editing. This is what it takes to do good creative work. Without all that time for deep work, you simply can't write well on a consistent basis. You'll have some meetings and interviews, but most of your time will be dedicated to your craft.
- Small-but-growing company. Simple Strat currently has about 10 team members. This means your work counts. Small teams to tend to take good care of each other (as Ali mentioned) and because you'll get in early, you'll have more opportunities to grow as the company expands.
- Coaching from the CEO. Once a month, you'll get to spend time with Ali working on your skills. This is rare and should be celebrated. One-on-one coaching from a CEO is an extremely valuable career development opportunity. If you end up in this role, take advantage of it.
