Digital.com is hiring a Managing Editor to oversee all content production. This includes its software reviews and editorial content. You can read the full job description here.
Watch my interview with General Manager Ashley McNamara and Director of Product Allen Leng here:
Digital.com hosts two types of content. First, the team focuses on software reviews. The team reviews software by category (e.g., "best email marketing tools") and also reviews specific tools (e.g., "Constant Contact review"). This content is the product—Digital.com monetizes with affiliate partnerships with some of the tools they reviews. Second, they create editorial content to help their target readers (mostly small business owners and marketers) do their jobs better.
There are a few things that I really like about this role:
- Writing for an SMB audience can be really rewarding. That doesn't mean it's easy, but you can really help these folks make better decisions and grow their businesses.
- Grow your own freelance team. Digital.com has writers in place but needs to grow its team to execute on its goal of 40-50 new pieces of content per month.
- Own a large editorial operation. This is a great opportunity to own strategy, get experience managing a busy content pipeline and own/develop the content operations arm at Digital.com.
