Gorgias helps e-commerce companies deliver excellent customer service at scale. We integrate email, live chat, voice, Facebook, Instagram, and SMS with Shopify, BigCommerce, and Magento.

Our product creates a unified customer profile by combining emails, live-chat, and social-media messages with ecommerce data such as purchase and delivery info. Combining all this data in a single application makes customer service more efficient and just better. About the growth marketing team

Our ambition is to be recognized by the ecommerce ecosystem as the most impactful customer service platform for online stores. We want every single brand on Shopify, Magento, and BigCommerce to deliver exceptional customer experiences through our tools.

The marketing team is currently made up of three different functions, which work in tandem toward this goal: lead gen, product marketing, and content.

The content team is in charge of educating the market on the value of customer experience and attracting prospects through an inbound strategy. Our tracking and analytics stack helps a lot to understand the impact of our content. Instead of using traffic, we measure the success of content with key business indicators like the number of engagements from qualified accounts. You would sit on the content team, reporting to Ryan, our Content Marketing Manager.

What you’ll do as an editor

  • Cultivate a deep understanding of our audience — who they are and who they want to become — to ensure our content helps them achieve their goals
  • Edit all written content produced by the marketing team and our content agency, armed with a sharp knife and generous, actionable feedback
  • Coach those colleagues and contractors to hone their skills — a proverbial tide that lifts all the ships on our team, over time
  • Manage our content production pipeline and calendar, collaborating with different stakeholders across time zones to move the roughest of drafts through the polishing process until they shine like the queen’s diamonds
  • Optimize SEO-focused content to satisfy search intent, engage the reader, and charm The Algorithm
  • Refresh and repurpose existing content to upgrade the value and expand our reach
  • Write from scratch, when necessary, lending your words to articles, ebooks, and other assets

Who you are

  • Preferably, you have 3+ years editing experience at a publication or in a marketing department (B2B SaaS or ecommerce experience is a bonus)
  • If you’re transitioning into editing, you should have 5+ years in B2B SaaS or ecommerce content writing
  • Either way, you have a proven track record with measurable results, prioritizing curiosity, learning, and growth throughout your career.
  • You are agile and adaptable, with the ability to think strategically, solve problems independently, and learn quickly in the uncharted waters
  • You play well with others and collaborate in a way that allows everyone to contribute according to their strengths
  • You can uphold several standards in tandem, balancing AP style, the rules of grammar, Google’s ranking factors, and our internal style guide (which you will help develop)
  • Your writing is engaging and interesting, in addition to your technical proficiency
  • You can sweat the details while considering the bigger picture. Think of conductors: They know when a specific instrument is out of tune, but also understands how the final piece should sound when the symphony comes together.
  • You’re tech savvy (we love our tools at Gorgias) and have experience with relevant software categories, including project management software (we use Asana), CMS software (we use Webflow), CRM software (we use Hubspot), and other popular content tools (we use Ahrefs and Clearscope, among others)
  • You are passionate. To be clear, this does not mean you’re going to put in excessive hours and burn out like a cheap candle. That’s not healthy for your or helpful to anyone. What we’re looking for is someone who is going to give 100% during working hours to move the needle on our ambitious goals.

For an editor:

  • We’re looking for you to meet most or all of the above qualifications and confidently carry out the responsibilities by the end of your first three months on the job

For a senior editor:

  • We’re looking for you to go above and beyond the above qualifications.
  • You should have a proven track record of managing production and editing, developing, even managing a team of writers.
  • At this level of seniority, we would expect you to contribute to editorial strategy and develop broader narratives that show up throughout all of the content we release.
  • You should also be able to help Nestablish a differentiated and appropriate brand voice, communicating it to the organization and upholding it in all external assets.

Salary, benefits, and perks

  • 💰 The San Francisco salary range (our company benchmark) for this position is $86,783 to $136,710, plus competitive equity, depending on seniority and the offer you choose.
