Bolster helps companies scale their CEOs, CXOs and boards through an on-demand talent marketplace. The Bolster marketplace matches startups with executives for interim, fractional, or advisory roles, board appointments, and full-time jobs. Bolster also offers robust mentorship and advisory services. Since Bolster’s launch in September 2020, the marketplace has grown to 1,000 founders (Clients), 7,000 executives (Members), 250+ venture capital firms (Portfolio Partners), 70+ professional partner organizations (Membership Partners) and has placed hundreds of executives. Bolster’s growing list of customers includes notable brands like Glowforge, Codecademy, Sovrn, Alation, Bluecore, Andela, Code Climate, Outschool, Gainsight, Quizlet and Pantheon. About the role

Now that we’ve closed our $11M Series B funding round, we’re ready to scale up our marketing efforts for our next growth stage. We’re hiring a Director of Marketing to manage and uplevel our existing marketing channels, and identify new programs and processes to implement. As the first full-time hire fully allocated toward supporting the Marketing function, this role will be instrumental in building and shaping the future of marketing for Bolster. This multifaceted opportunity is a great opportunity to get your hands dirty and help us build our marketing channels from the ground up, while also leading the strategic vision for the long term.

You will engage deeply across the breadth of the tech ecosystem with all three major audiences of Bolster: Executives who join our marketplace as members looking for on-demand work, CEOs of venture-backed startups who are looking to fill executive and board roles, and VC and PE firms that use Bolster to manage key searches for their portfolio companies. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has content, marketplace, and growth experience in prior marketing roles, has a passion for helping company leaders succeed, and is excited by the opportunity to join a high-growth startup and shape our marketing function.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be experienced in customer acquisition, content, and product marketing, preferably in a marketplace business or startup environment.
  • Help craft crisp and consistent messaging across digital channels to support all of Bolster’s products and services.
  • Own our content calendar and contribute high quality content for email, blog, social, website and public relations.
  • Work with our Client, Member and Partner teams to produce programs that acquire, educate and engage these audiences.
  • Create Customer Marketing initiatives - testimonials, engagement, and referral marketing for new and recurring business.
  • Work with our Product and Design team to maintain our website and manage our Content Management System (CMS).
  • Navigate HubSpot to create and manage campaigns - social, email, marketing attribution and reporting.
  • Manage relationships with existing contractors and look for opportunities to engage additional resources.
  • Collaborate across a broad set of internal teams including Sales, Product, and Partnerships and Operations.

What you bring to the role:

  • 5-8 years of marketing experience, working in a startup environment is a plus.
  • Our ideal candidate is a creative marketing professional, preferably with a writing background with copywriting and editing skills.
  • Be comfortable in a (mostly) self-managed startup environment. We’re looking for someone smart, savvy and super scrappy who understands how to experiment across marketing channels.
  • Hands-on experience creating, implementing, and analyzing marketing campaigns.
  • Working knowledge of customer relationship management (CRM) and content management system (CMS) platforms.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Active and well-rounded personal presence in social media
  • Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data and intuition to inform decisions
  • Technically capable and a desire to improve processes.
  • Familiarity and comfort with startup CEOs and founders is a plus.

Compensation, Benefits and Equity

  • The money part - This is a full-time salaried position and the target compensation range for this role is $100,000-$120,000 depending on the expertise and experience you bring.
