Content Marketing Director

This is a big job. Insider is B2B SaaS app that helps enterprise companies solve a range of marketing challenges. It already has a presence in 24 countries and is now ready to move into the US market. As a result, the person who fills this role must live in the US (but anywhere in the US is okay).
As Merve noted in our interview, this role is hands-on. You should be ready to write, edit, work alongside your team, hire new team members and collaborate with the rest of the marketing org. There is also an important strategy component—the US is a brand new market for Insider, meaning this person can lead the content strategy for what is surely a massive opportunity for the company.
Here are a few things we love about this opportunity:
- This is a legit senior-level content role. Insider wants someone with serious experience to come in and execute. The right person is likely already a director/head of content looking for a new challenge and more responsibility. This is not the right fit for someone early in their career looking to learn on the job.
- You get to build a content strategy from scratch. Literally from scratch. We're talking top of funnel, sales collateral, video, social, events and more. The rest of the global marketing team will be able to share lots of knowledge, but this strategy will be yours to create and execute. If that excites you, it's a good indicator that you could be a good fit.
- Your boss has a content background. Merve has worked in content marketing for years and has been doing this role herself for a while. This is important because you won't need to sell the idea of content—the company and the marketing lead are already bought in. This creates a platform for creativity and experiments, and means that you'll have an easier time getting resources to execute your strategy.
Let's be clear though, this isn't a job for everyone. Insider is still very much in startup mode. That style of work tends to attract a certain type of person. By the time you're senior enough to be a candidate for this role, you should know if you love the startup environment. It's not for everyone and that's okay.
Insider has 550 employees across 24 countries. They've raised $42 million to date, including a $32 million series C just a few months ago. The most recent round is funding its entry into the US.
