Brief Media is a leading media company that develops peer-reviewed educational content and point-of-care tools for more than 259,000 veterinary professionals. Clinician’s Brief, Brief Media’s flagship product, is the veterinary industry’s #1 brand for diagnostic and treatment information. 

As we evolve our product portfolio to a primarily digital one, we have a need for an experienced digital content and audience growth leader to help the company continue with its digital transformation and grow its veterinary audience.

The ideal candidate is an experienced digital native with a proven track record of driving engagement and growing audiences, preferably in a media or B2B environment. This is a leadership role with responsibility for developing and executing the digital content strategy and distribution plans in support of company goals. You will prioritize and manage multiple projects, manage a team, and deliver results. 

This new role is an exciting opportunity for someone with an entrepreneurial attitude to impact and direct the organization’s content strategy. It is expected that any candidate would have some domain knowledge within the media or B2B communication space, but also be able to demonstrate the ability to learn the specific domain knowledge required for the role.


  • Lead a team of content editors and producers to create and distribute relevant, audience-driven content and supervise execution of the brand's channel map.
  • Work across departments to evangelize digital content strategy and content intended to grow audience databases.
  • Direct and engage in hands-on development of content designed for long-term audience engagement, including but not limited to: community-oriented content, promotional content, organic email, social, external partner efforts, and online registration forms (to promote audience conversion).
  • Devise strategies for packaging existing content for different audiences across online platforms.
  • Engage in regular communication with all Digital Content and Audience Growth team members and have a pulse on team operations: knowing what team members are working on, when their work is due, what's next, and who is blocked.
  • Working with data team members, measure progress and devise experiments to keep organization on the cutting edge of new techniques to drive engagement with core audiences.
  • Set goals for and track progress toward engagement benchmarks and database growth.
  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly digital content calendar and production meetings.
  • Spearhead editorial workflow development for new digital content.
  • Study and make recommendations for new products (eg, email newsletters, podcasts) to further influence and service to core audiences.
  • Identify emerging trends within the digital space and look at how these can be leveraged for the organization.
  • Enforce editorial guidelines for digital content; use superior judgment in communication with audiences.
  • Instill a culture of continuous improvement, valuing both learning and quality, and productive collaboration between teams and departments.


  • Entrepreneurial leader who can clearly define, deliver, measure and continuously improve the effectiveness of digital engagement across all online platforms
  • 5+ years of experience as a digital content leader responsible for growing media or B2B audiences
  • Experience owning internal processes, including documenting those processes, and training employees on how to execute them
  • Proven ability to drive registrations and other conversions with content
  • Passionate self-starter who approaches work with a proactive, campaign-style mindset
  • Creative thinker who understands how to marry user interest in content with packaging and promotion
  • Experience in and passion for long-term audience growth, including driving organic/paid
  • audience to digital sites, increasing followers on social media, and converting engaged users into the user database
  • Track record of working with internal partners from different departments to serve business
  • objectives, provide consultative content feedback and drive organic audience growth/conversion efforts
  • Data-driven thinker who can leverage actionable analysis to maximize performance and continuously improve
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change, solve problems quickly and act decisively in fast paced driven environment
  • Knowledge of web design standards, usability, content management systems and their application to content production
  • Passion for technology with working knowledge and insight of current best practices, technology trends and solutions
